For us, freedom is not just about living in a democratic society—it also means having access to healthy food and a strong connection with the community, no matter your financial situation. That’s why Stads–land, in collaboration with Mezrab and local urban farmers, is hosting a Freedom Meal on May 5th:
– A shared dinner at the dock: together with local chefs we prepare diverse vegetarian dishes made with fresh produce from our Amsterdam-based farmers.
– After dinner, a storytelling program: Mezrab gathers the world’s best storytellers to weave true, mythical, fabulous, and comedic tales about how (local) food connects and liberates us.
Everyone is welcome to join us – the program is free of charge. So bring your aunt, neighbor, friend or meet a stranger at the table.
*the storytelling program indoors is freely accessible from 19.30. The shared dinner at the dock has limited seating and is free on reservation: https://stadsland.com/en/4/.
This program is made possible with the support of De Regenboog Groep, Buurtteam Amsterdam, the Amsterdam 4 and 5 May Committee, Fonds voor Oost, and the Municipality of Amsterdam.

Stads–land is a project for social urban agriculture. We explore ways to contribute to a fairer, healthier, and more local food system in cities—one that benefits people, plants, animals, and the city itself. We do this together with the community: we experiment, taste, research, but most of all, we take action! You can read more on our website: www.stadsland.com.
The Mezrab is a cultural center in Amsterdam that provides the stage for storytelling, music, and other related art forms. When It was founded in 2004 the Mezrab could fit into a tiny tea shop in the center of town. In the past years it has grown in size and scope, attracting hundreds of visitors from all over the world.
