During the occupation, the Jewish owners of Kunsthandel Bernard Houthakker were subjected to severe pressure. To avert confiscation and the forced closure of their art dealership, the couple relinquished control of the business during the war. The Houthakker family survived the war and succeeded in preserving the gallery. Provenance Specialist World War II Herster Kuiper recounts their story.
Important: the 4 pm session is in Dutch.
