The Fo Guang Shan He Hua Temple on Amsterdam’s Zeedijk is located in Chinatown. It is the largest temple in Europe built in traditional Chinese palace style. The appearance is Chinese, but that does not alter the fact that Buddhism and its practice are universal and transcend all external characteristics and cultures.
The Freedom Meal event is a community-wide event that aims to bring people together to share a meal and promote unity and understanding among diverse groups. It accords with Humanistic Buddhism, propagated by the Fo Guang Shan International Buddhist Order, in the objectives laid down by Master Hsing Yun: give faith to others, give joy to others, give hope to others, give comfort to others. Fo Guang Shan’s goal is to make Buddhism matter in this world, in our lives and in the hearts of each of us. Our goal is to raise the attention of people about freedom and independence from a Buddhism angle.
Entrance is for free.
Visitor can visit He Hua Temple, learn about Buddhism, feel more joy and be more positive. Many of our members will be enjoying the May 5, Freedom Day, with family and friends at our temple.
