The exuberant Liberation Dance Festival is once again all about dance!

Diverse, inspiring dance performances will take place from 12:00 to 21:00, interspersed with the most fun dance workshops. Dare to dance with a stranger or put on headphones and dance around the Liberation Tree. This year there will be a photo exhibition by visual storyteller Dauphine of sQuare Amsterdam.

At 12.00 we start with the Freedom Dinner Dansant, a freedom soup and dance. Then at 14.00, the festival will burst into life with enthusiastic amateur and professional dancers who will literally and figuratively get you moving. Be surprised by the choreography of Lucia Marthas Institute for Performing Arts, on the theme Heroic, based on the first motto from the Coat of Arms of Amsterdam. There’s also a dance performance inspired by the controversial Amsterdam dancer and dance maker Florrie Rodrigo (3 September 1893 – 11 July 1996) by Kathrin Gramelsberger (Artistic Director at Bühnenbiest) in collaboration with the AHK’s Docentdans students, supported by Danstheater Aya. Come dance along with the Sevillanas of Coro del Campo or with Vyjayanthi Iyer and experience the positive energy of Bollywood dancing. In the last hours of the festival we will create a Latin atmosphere with Salsa and Bachata so we can ring out the festival party-style by dancing together!
