During the annual gathering in the former church of Ransdorp all those who died or were killed during World War II and all those who died in war situations and peace operations after World War II will be commemorated. As in the rest of the Netherlands, at 20.00 hours 2 minutes of silence will be observed for this.
This year the guest speaker is Marjan de Boo. Marjan is a flautist in the Waterlandse Harmonie. Her grandfather was Joop IJisberg, streetcar conductor on line 7 and involved in the organization of the February strike in 1941. On 19 November he was executed at the airbase Soesterberg. Marjan tells his story and the influence of these events on the lives of her family and society.
The meeting will be musically accompanied by the Waterlandse Harmonie, conducted by Thomas Geerts.
After the program there will be an opportunity to discuss the program while enjoying a cup of coffee and cake.
